Time-of-flight mass spectrometer CORE PTR 3C: PTR-TOF-MS with proton transfer reactor

  • Our most compact and affordable PTR-MS, providing benzene sensitivity of over 200 k/s/h/s, resolution of over 3000 FWHM and a detection limit of 10 ppm. Compact PTR 3c is a new soft chemical ionization tool for sensitive analysis of volatile organic compounds in atmospheric air.Using soft chemical ionization, a time-of-flight mass spectrometer can monitor all the masses in parallel, which allows you to collect the maximum amount of information. 
  • PTR-MS is a soft ionization method using H 3 O+ ions to transfer protons to all compounds with higher proton affinity than water.The common components in the air are not ionized by the hydronium beam, but most volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are ionized by H+3+ practically without fragmentation. With  using this method H 3 O + PTR-MS other molecules can be detected, such as hydrogen sulfide (H 2 S), hydrogen cyanide (HCN) and ammonia (NH 3 ) .
  • Ionization occurs in a low-pressure reactor (from 0.1 to 2 mbar) under dilute conditions, that is, in order to avoid competition for charge between different analyte molecules, as can happen with API sources. The result is very high sensitivity combined with linearity and simple quantitative analysis.The same hardware can also be used with other reagent ions if it is desired that O 2 + and NO+ are the usual choices.

  • AUTOMATIC REACTOR PRESSURE MONITORING
  • This function uses the precise stepper motor control of the needle valve to maintain a constant pressure in the reactor as determined by the user.The pressure in the reactor is constantly monitored by a capacitive pressure gauge, and the signal can be used for feedback and to maintain a constant pressure in the reactor. 
  • REAGENT GAS ACCOUNTING
  • Regardless of whether you use H 3 O +  as a reagent ion or another gas to produce a reagent ion, such as O 2 + , the solid-state device measures the flow of the reagent gas into the source of the glow ions discharge, which allows you to accurately set the flow of the reagent and be repeatable. 
  • PTR MONITOR SOFTWARE
  • A new specialized software utility monitors and displays key parameters that determine the collision energy inside the reactor.The pressure and temperature in the reactor are entered by the user, and they are used to control feedback on these parameters.The resulting E/n value is calculated in real time and displayed.These key parameters are subsequently saved along with the dataset.The flow rate of the measured reagent gas is also displayed in this utility. 
  • TOF SPECTROMETER WITH HIGH MASS RESOLUTION AND HIGH ACCURACY
  • All control voltages of the mass spectrometer are now under full computer control with the possibility of reading.The device operates with a mass resolution of ~3000 at full transmission (high sensitivity), but the resolution can be further increased with some transmission losses.This can be useful, for example, when obtaining the highest resolution data reduces the uncertainty of the exact mass of an unknown peak of interest. 
  • ANALYTE LINES COATED WITH SILICATE STEEL
  • Now, as standard, all stainless steel surfaces leading to the reactor and in contact with the analyzed gas, including the needle valve for pressure determination, are coated with an inert coating to prevent adsorption of analytes, such as small sulfur-containing molecules. 
  • EASY-TO-MAINTAIN ANALYTE INLET AND REACTOR SYSTEM
  • In a well-used device, the cathode of the glow discharge ion source requires periodic cleaning.The architecture and fittings used for the reactor furnace and intake gas lines have been completely redesigned to provide easy disconnection and, importantly, the ability to reconnect with a guarantee of vacuum integrity.The intake system can now be disassembled and assembled under vacuum within one hour.
